Technical Author - computer hardware and software documentation.
Our award-winning, world-leading technology client is looking for a technical author to write, update, edit and maintain a variety of technical content to support their advanced hardware and software digital technology. Part home working each week is possible.
An experienced technical author able to produce primarily computer hardware documentation, with some software documentation too.
A strong track record of writing for global audiences.
A very good understanding of the documentation production life cycle.
You'll be very comfortable gathering information from developers and engineers.
A good knowledge of industry standard tools and technologies, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tools.
Technical skills or knowledge:
Hardware knowledge - an understanding of computer hardware/architecture/System-on-Chip designs/microprocessor
Software knowledge at a technical level with the ability and enthusiasm to learn the hardware side.
DITA, HTML, XML, XSLT, Doxygen or similar tools.
C, C++ or related OO language.
Perl, Python or similar Scripting language.
Software and hardware integration/platform bring-up
A hardware + software background would be ideal
Sound judgement and clear decision making abilities.
A fast learner of new technologies and standards.
A flexible and pragmatic approach.
The ability to manage your workload to meet tight deadlines is a must.
