An A&R Editor in Chief must be proficient in English, Spanish
and Italian languages in order to manage and curate our music
catalog in the US and overseas. The A&R Editor will direct the
marketing department where all the digital and printed campaigns
take place. The A&R Editor will administer out complete
music publishing catalog along with copyrights and
royalty compliance filings.
The A&R Editor may devise, implement and maintain the management
systems for the catalog, and help to promote and publicize the
catalog. The catalog may be for the general public or specific
sectors of the general public such as music academics and
researchers, or for the internal use of the company. Catalogs
in the music industry may comprise of live music, sheet music,
historical archives, music related books, musical instruments
or anything related to the music business.
The A&R Editor will be required to have knowledge of the music
industry, specifically the Latin American and European
markets. As well as managing the administration of the catalog the
A&R Editor often also has a sales or marketing role. They are
likely to have an important role in deciding what goes into
the catalog, and what comes out. This will include managing
information about copyright, royalties and licensing. A&R
Editors working for record labels, will be responsible for
licensing and will be expected to have expertise in this area.
They will also monitor sales data, provide reports and analysis and
make recommendations as well as having an input in to how and
where the catalog is promoted.
